Subject: wonderful historical program last Sunday!

I am so grateful to the Chatham county Historical Society for presenting actress Diane Faison portraying “the Spirit” of Harriet Tubman last Sunday,  the 29th,  at our Historic Courthouse!  We saw her one-woman performance in 2018 at a “Juneteenth ” celebration in Snow Camp.  She was as superb, riveting and – surprise – funny! on Sunday,  as she was last year.  And the program was free!

The Historic Courthouse was a wonderful setting, and courtroom was all but filled.  There was even a reception afterwards.  Ms. Faison, a former teacher from Winston Salem, has full command of her historical material. She works without a written script, and told us she tailors her performance to her audience (she often performs for school kids), but always using the historical facts of Tubman’s incredible life story.  I would love to see this become a yearly event.  “The “Moses” of her people, who led over 300 enslaved human beings to freedom, came alive for us this past weekend!
