In regards to our upcoming election, below is a question that deals with affordable housing:

Q: What concerns, if any, do you have about the supply of affordable housing in Pittsboro?

I am the only candidate who actually lives in an affordable housing community: Bellemont Point.

And Bellemont Point is also an award winning affordable living community.

The ability to live in such a community after medical debt and the death of my husband nearly bankrupted me has been a godsend. I have a safe and healthy place to live, which should be a right for all members of our great community.

I understand the needs of the members of my community and know for example that well over 100 families are on the waiting list to get a place to live in our lovely community.

Our future mayor, Jim Nass, chaired the task force on affordable housing for Pittsboro and John Foley, the husband of town board member, Bett Wilson-Foley, chaired the advisory board for the County.

If elected, I will lean on my personal wisdom as well as the findings of their respective committees to inform my vote on the best policies for Pittsboro to address “affordable living” today and in the future.
