Children ages 4+ are invited to listen to a story and complete a related craft based on the 2019 Summer Reading Program theme “A Universe of Stories”. 10am- Noon               CCL Wednesday Movie Matinee. Families with children of all ages are invited to join us each Wednesday from June 12 through August 21 for a space-themed, all ages appropriate family movie. 3-4:30pm                    Microsoft PowerPoint, Part 2. In this workshop, we’ll be building on the concepts we learned in the first PowerPoint Basics class.  Topics covered in this workshop include: navigating slide views, inserting SmartArt, inserting WordArt, creating hyperlinks, creating charts and tables, using advanced themes, and printing different slide views. We will be using Microsoft PowerPoint 2013.
Prerequisites:  Participants should have taken the first Microsoft PowerPoint Basics class or have prior basic experience with PowerPoint. This workshop is FREE and open to the public; however, class size is limited and registration is required. Register: Online

9am-3pm                Genealogy Assistance. Volunteer genealogists are available to assist with family history research, whether your ancestors lived in Chatham County, the 50 states, or overseas.  A genealogy volunteer is on site in the library most Thursdays from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, and other days and times by appointment.  Call 919-545-8086 to make an appointment.  Sessions take place in the Local History & Genealogy area of Chatham Community Library.  Please bring as much written documentation as you have about the topic you are researching, as well as a flash drive for saving documents and/or money for printing.

12:20-1:45pm         CCL Computer Lab Closed to the public for a college class.
4pm                        CCL Kids’ Coding With SCRATCH! Join our monthly drop-in coding club and complete an activity using SCRATCH. Elementary aged students and older are welcome. Grown-ups are welcome too, especially to help out younger coders. Our coding event is held on the 4th Thursday of each month.
6pm                         Pride Month Film Series.  Chatham Community Library concludes the Pride Month Film Series with this 2016 cinematic and intimate profile of 4 transgender women that come out in their senior years. Set in logging towns in the Pacific NW the visceral, observational story explores what it means to leave behind living as a man (IMDB).  This film is rated TV-MA. It will be shown at 6pm in the Holmes Meeting Room. This event is free and open to the public.

10am                          CCL Family Story Time. Families with children of all ages are invited to join us for a 30-minute story time, including books, songs, stretches, rhymes, and dancing! For more information, contact Youth Services at (919) 545-8085

11am                           CCL Baby Time. Babies and their parents/caregivers will interact with music, rhymes, age-appropriate books and lots of cuddles. Baby Time lasts approximately 20 minutes, with time after for free play and socializing. For babies from birth until walking and their parents/caregivers. 2pm                             CCL Summer Reading Program Special: Man and the Moon. July 20, 2019, marks the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, a monumental achievement in space exploration. To commemorate this golden anniversary, please join us at Chatham Community Library for “Man and the Moon,” a celebration of the moon and humans’ relationship to it.
Guest speaker Paul K. Byrne, Ph.D, Assistant Professor of Planetary Geology at North Carolina State University, will describe how the moon was formed, and how the Apollo 11 mission contributed to our understanding of the moon.. 3:30pm                                Spanish Book Club (Club de la Lectura). Our book club ‘Tertulia Compaginar’ reads titles originally written in Spanish. We do not read translations into Spanish from any language. We read both fiction and non-fiction books. The majority of our members are originally English native speakers, with the added benefit of a few native Spanish speakers from different countries in Latin America. 2pm                              Wren SRP Special: Jon Sundell- Twisting and Telling a Universe of Stories.  Join storyteller and folk singer Jon Sundell as he “Twists and Tells a Universe of Stories!” Using his guitar, banjo, autoharp, mountain dulcimer and ukulele and providing plenty of opportunity for participation, Jon weaves together a multicultural assortment of stories and songs to hold his audience in rapt attention. To top it off, several of the songs or tales are performed as Jon creates a related balloon figure, and after the show kids get to choose a custom-made figure to take home!
