Thanks to you folks for continuing the notes about the Chatham Park tree outlook.   I had not known about the nursery connection.   – Bleak.   As are the trees’ growth prospects, I assume.   Another characteristic of a huge development like CP is the expanse of of compacted, red clay sub-soil.   If you have ever tried to dig a hole, much less, plant anything in that clay you know it means trouble.  IF a tree survives  I suspect it will have a very slow growth rate.

Still another problem is the introduction of invasive plants and disease.   With so much traffic coming in and out every day all that ripped up open dirt is inevitably going to regrow a great variety of invasive plants.   Contractors and yard maintenance crews almost guarantee a steady supply of such seeds on their vehicles and equipment.
