Press the back of your hand on the pavement for 7 seconds, if it is too hot for your hand, then it it’s too hot for paws.
77=125 skin destruction with 60 seconds
86=135 and egg can fry in 5 minutes @131 degrees
87=143 and up, are cruel and lead to real tissue damage

I want to take this opportunity to share information that has struck with me from years ago. We are in quite a heat spell this week. If it is too hot for you, then it is too hot for your pets. And, we should all stay hydrated.
Now, the reason I bring this up, if not only for the pets dependent on our common sense, but, in response to L. Ellis posted 5/29. On a walk down a country road, 94 degrees, “doubly so with the heat bouncing off the already hot road”, I suggest you focus differently than “me and my body”, and the fact that tree limbs have been cleared. Then, to return home and craft a political view to post on the Chatlist regarding the views that we need to save our trees.
Also, when tree limbs are cleared it is for a reason. When bad weather hits, we surely do not want our electricity to go out in any type of situation. Tree limbs will always grow and the climate does change as it has throughout my 58 years.

Stay cool.
