Remember the California wildfires of last summer? Are you preparing your home and neighborhood in case a wildfire would rage in Chatham County? Right now, with all the rain, that is probably a remote possibility. When the rain stops (and it will) the danger of fire will grow.
What plants help contain fires? What should I do around my house? Can I (or should I) try to fight a wildfire on my own?
For the answers to those questions and more, come to the next Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) meeting on April 24, beginning at 6:00 PM in the Chatham County Emergency Operations Office, 297 West Street, Pittsboro (down the hill from the Sheriff’s office).
Everyone is welcome, the meeting is free, and there is no obligation.
