Do you have a website or are you considering getting a website? If so, come learn about User Experience (UX) and the important role it plays in web design at the May 15 meeting of the Pittsboro/Chatham Social Media & Internet Marketing Meetup. Our guest speaker is Cheryl Wilder, who has worked as a web designer since 2012.

The presentation, “User Experience – What It Is and Why It Matters,” will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 15, in a restaurant in northern Chatham County. The price is $5 per person plus the cost of your dinner and tip to the server.

Steve Jobs said, “Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works.”

If you were opening a brick and mortar business, you would consider the customers’ first impression upon entering the building. You would make sure the store was organized, so they could easily find what they were looking for. Where to check out would be intuitive, the process simple.

Your website is no different. You have a home page (storefront), menu header (aisles to browse), and users (customers). You may not have an item to purchase, but a service to offer, a blog to read, or a newsletter signup. Whatever your purpose or goal, will users easily find what they are looking for? Is your content organized and clear? In other words, does your website offer a user-friendly experience?

At our May 15 gathering, you’ll learn about User Experience (UX) and its important role in web design. You’ll leave equipped with some DIY tools to administer your own UX audit.

Cheryl Wilder has nearly 20 years of experience working in customer service for small businesses. She became passionate about design while working for two years as a researcher and writer for an architect. She holds an MFA in writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts, is the author of “What Binds Us” (Finishing Line Press 2017), and has published in a variety of journals and magazines.

Cheryl and her husband founded the small web development company, Atlas Endeavors LLC in 2012.

Please join us for this valuable discussion about User Experience and what it means for your own website.
