The other day Duck Decoy, who prefers to remain anonymous, made a post that was in error.
I do not work for Chatham Park Investors nor Preston Development Company.
If they offered me a job I would consider taking it since I understand they are a good company to work for.
In addition I understand that a number of local folks are now working at the medical facilities they developed behind Bojangles.
These new jobs are a good situation for Chatham County.
I live on my own little piece of heaven in Mann’s Chapel that has been under growth pressures for the past 15 years, which is why I can empathize and understand the reasonable concerns of others such as Duck Decoy regarding the pressures of growth in Chatham County.
I dealt with the developer(s) whose bulldozers shaped the woods behind and around my acreage and my life went on.
Was I completely happy?
No.
But I have adapted.
Now growth has come to Pittsboro.
It has been planned and the opinions of citizens of the county, including myself, are being welcomed by the people building Chatham Park.
The land has been purchased over many years and we all know that Chatham Park will be built.
We can voice our concerns or remain silent, which is our own personal choice, but at least I know they are listening.
The Downtown Vision Plan deals with improvements to Pittsboro and it focuses on better sidewalks, public spaces, greenways and improved parking.
So what if the the initial design was paid for by Chatham Park.
They did it to help the Town not be a hindrance and because of their $80,000 plus contribution the people of Pittsboro and Chatham County have a plan to work with and ultimately enhance.
The question I have for for Duck Decoy is why anything with their name on it must be unilaterally opposed and attacked?
I can understand the bitterness, but that is not a rational nor productive default position.
