Chatham conservatives vs liberals

I read the Chatlist every day. Sometimes I cringe when I read the opinions of people who move to this county and bring their Blue opinions with them. Have you ever looked at the map of the United States after a Presidential election. The blue states are on the coasts. New York, New Jersey (my home state) Delaware, Maryland, the half of Virginia that boards Washington DC, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and parts of Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont and Florida. On the other side of the country is California, Oregon and Washington State. States that were originally Red are now 1/2 red and 1/2 blue like Colorado because Californians that were over taxed moved. But they took their blue opinions with them. The majority of the states in this country are red. But unfortunately they aren’t the most populated. Neal Bortz said (before he got so disgusted that he gave up his radio program) that conservatives/libertarian want space and to live where no one is telling them what to do and what to think. Liberals need to be crowded so that they can validate their opinions with everyone around them and feel like they are thinking with a majority.

I became a libertarian after I read “Atlas Shrugged” and finally could put a label on what I believed. I wonder what makes people think that our assets should be shared with people who earn less then we do. My parents grew up in Ukraine and New York City, later moved to New Jersey. They were Democrats and thought Franklin Delano Roosevelt walked on water. I didn’t agree with their thinking at all, but I have never understood why I was different when so many of the people I knew just continued the philosophy of their parents. I also don’t understand why these blue people come to a state like North Carolina and a County like Chatham and try to change the political philosophy. Go back where you came from and leave us alone. I don’t want people coming here from other countries without a proper visa to stay here and work legally. I don’t want to share what I have with people I don’t know. I share, but with my family, my neighbors, and anyone else I choose to share with. I don’t want the government taking my money in taxes and giving it away to people who expect to be taken care of the rest of their life. I am sick of all of this. I would move but where can I go that wouldn’t be the same. The only place that attracts me is Texas, so maybe if we could sell our house we could move, but we live on the dead end of Chatham County.

Our county representative, who are Republicans, are of the opinion that the money they raise in taxes should be used to enhance the structure of Chatham County like paved roads, repaired bridges, clean water, and sewer systems. Not spent on art projects, parks, and any other idea someone has. If you want these things, contribute your money, not mine.

I know I am going to anger many people when they read this posts, but I have kept my mouth shut too long and I just couldn’t take it any more.

To Taylor Kish, and Goodnight Mark when I read your posts today, I had to join you. Thank you for giving me the courage.
