Chatham Park’s job is not to take the initiative to bring in high paying jobs

Virginia – I’ve heard CPI promise promise promise all of the things you mentioned in your posting.  Are those things in writing?  If so, then we can hold them to it.  If not, it would be immediately imperative that you write a letter to our mayor, town manager and board of commissioners at once!  Tell them to make sure there is a signed contract with CPI on all those promises.

There is one promise that really is a “pie in the sky”, however:  the part about jobs.  Meaning, high paying jobs.  CPI builds buildings.  They do not do marketing, and it is not their job to actually take the initiative to bring in those high paying jobs.  They can build for fast food places, Lowes Hardware and such.  Those jobs are minimum wage or barely above that….still not a comfortable living wage.

But please – do write the commissioners a letter urging that everything be committed to in writing.  And while you’re at it – insist that clean water, protecting the waterways, ensuring that no building “run off” mud go into Jordan Lake – insist that all of that be put into writing as well. That’s the only way we can have legal authority to hold them to their promises.

I’d hate for CPI be a huge disaster of “pies in the sky” (promises with no action), like the other housing developments in Pittsboro over the past 10+ years.
