My understanding from all the articles, meetings and videos there will be not just houses and retail; but businesses and companies as in RTP like IBM, SAS and pharma companies. The park will be modeled after RTP but with housing, avoiding the mistake RTP made causing tons of commuting traffic. It has been called a sequel to RTP many times.

Hope that clears it up.”

No, not realy. I understand Chatham Park is intended to include business development, much like RTP.  What businesses have shown an interest or made any commitment to Chatham Park? Is there a market analysis that demonostrates this intended purpose will be realized?

How much business development have Briar Chapel and Powell Place enticed to the county, as that was how those bills of goods were also delivered?

Still, jobs are more fluid than housing.  It will be a commuting challenge since people do and need to change jobs & careers throughout their lives, and will need to be fluid to do so.  Changing housing with that fluidity is not realistic.

Residents will be commuting out of Chatham Park, just as outsiders will commute into Chatham Park to the job.  Increased traffic will be the future.

I do not really have a “position” on Chatham Park, but I do have an investment that theory matches reality, and that the county is prepared accordingly. This will be a terribly large project, and it would be shameful if our fantasy of the outcome is no where near reality.
