Subject: Reply from Norman Clark, Candidate for County Commissioner; Re: Disability

First, I am not a member of the Chatlist, and many thanks to those who contacted me directly concerning my “disability.”  The original post announcing my candidacy was posted on my behalf, as is this.  I urge anyone with questions or concerns to contact me directly, either by phone or email provided below.

Thankfully, I am not disabled.  I retired in February 2009 after 23 years of service as a firefighter and police officer in Chapel Hill.  Although I was injured in the line of duty in 2008, I have never applied for nor received any social security benefits.

Most who know me well, also know that running for Chatham County Commissioner is the next logical progression for me.  I was raised to be a good neighbor, to help others when I can, and to do the right thing.  I have served Chatham County previously as a school board member, have served on many nonprofit boards, including Boys and Girls Club, YMCA, and the Chatham County Human Relations Commission.  I have also served on the State Employees Credit Union (SECU) Advisory Board, been a mentor for the Chatham Together Graduation Project, and coached many years for various Chatham County recreational league teams.

Again, I ask that you consider my qualifications for county commissioner & I ask for your vote.  If anyone has any questions, concerns, or wants to discuss any Chatham County issues, please contact me at 919-542-5469 or 919-265-7049 or * *.     I will do my best to represent you & your interests.   I sincerely thank you.
