Subject: Shout Out for Chatham Italian Kitchen
Dee Jacobs and I had dinner at Chatham Italian Kitchen tonight and Rigo Melgar is a good cook and his son, Edgar is a fine waiter. Both are personable and made us feel very welcome. “A family business”. Rigo even fixed the parmesan chicken baked without the batter that was listed on the menu. Sauce was scrumptious and the salad and pasta were excellent and Dee raved over her lasagna. There was no veal marsala on the menu, but Rigo said he could make one if given a little notice. Edgar chilled a glass for my bottle of Heinekins.
This is the small brick building across from the former mattress company on old 421 north of US 64 near Siler City, on the right half a mile north of the Piney Grove Church Road exit. Red roof on Google Earth and 4 big white stones marking the border of the parking lot
You might bring a cushion for your chair. Entrance is a large warm airlock, so no cold blasts when door opens. Easy parking. Ice tea may be instant? $35 for lasagna, bottomless tea and toasted garlic bread, one beer, parmesan chicken specially prepared with side of pasta and two crisp green salads complimentary tonight, including over 20% tip. Wine selection seemed adequate but not tested.
Open 7 days a week from 11 AM and close 9 pm usually and 10 PM fri and sat. – maybe a little different Sunday?? Laura Gaffney posted a shout out a few days ago which is why we went – thanks Laura and Chatlist.
Really good food. Little higher price than ordinary Siler City fare but comparable price to similar quality in Pittsboro and Greensboro, Asheboro, Sanford, et al. Better eating for my dish and taste.
Can accommodate maybe 50 people if you want to have a dinner or lunch meeting – would call ahead under those circumstances 919-663-3334.
