Clarification for Gil McNeil and Michael Kirkman
We all know we have the right to question anything we want as long as it is politically correct. You, and PittsboroMatters do NOT have a right to be heard or answered.
No, citizens do NOT have a right to ask for higher standards of some and not others. If citizens want “higher standards” they must be applied to everyone.
We have existing laws, rules, and regulations at the federal, state, and local levels that tell anyone who applies for any permit what requirements must be met. You may exist today with “grandfathered” acceptance but if ANY change is proposed, EVERYTHING must be brought up to code.
Preston Development, Mr. Goodnight, and Chatham Park will be held to MUCH higher standards than you, Mr. McNeil, and others who run businesses out of your homes. Home businesses are granted a lot more deference. You do not have to get a zoning change to run a business out of your home but try to build a business on a parcel zoned Residential.
Mr. Kirkman, et al, “. . .don’t let the developer get rich at our expense”. .. .? YOUR EXPENSE???? That is inane. The developer is already rich and they did not get it from you.
The property did not cost YOU anything. Somebody else owns the properties. What we call Chatham Park is actually a BUNCH of individual parcels purchased from a BUNCH of private owners. Does your neighbor have to get YOUR permission to sell the empty parcel next door? If the new owner wants to build a house, the parcel is already zoned Residential, meets all the permit requirements, you’re going to get a house next door.
Where the lawlessness comes in, Mr. McNeil, is when a mob forms (PittsboroMatters) for the purpose of delaying, stopping, interfering, bullying, intimidating other citizens engaged in making unused parcels useful. When EXTRA demands are made of one developer and not others. Or let’s count all the conflicts of interest to understand the volume of protests for Chatham Park.
PittsboroMatters started with leaders who manipulated a few unhinged, busybodies to participate in a “high tech lynching” of “evil, white, rich developers”. PittsboroMatters at first, posted members’ comments on the website and who the leadership is. Check it now and you see PittsboroMatters is anonymous and their posts on this Chatlist are anonymous, too. PittsboroMatters does not want the scrutiny they demand of others. What is PittsboroMatters hiding?
Follow the money. Who is making money from PittsboroMatters? Who stands to gain from PittsboroMatter’s efforts?
If Chatham Park was proposed by the president, as a federal project for more space for the EPA or an enterprise zone for minority business, PittsboroMatters would NOT have attacked. The project would be praised and lauded.
Liberal mobs like PittsboroMatters ALWAYS deflect so you don’t see where they get THEIR money or how they spend the money they collect as donations or tax payer grants.
Chatham County review boards, and committees are jam packed with special interests protecting THEIR interests while doing their best to make it tough on their competitors (i.e. Preston Development).
