I posted my opinion back in September I believe Chatham County could do better with a new county manager.  Several readers of this Chatlist responded to me with your stories and reasons why you believe we could do better with a new county manager.  Many, many more agree.

The Chatham Board Of Commissioners does not share our view.  I think Charlie Horne has morphed himself into appearing engaged and the newest commissioners have bigger fish to fry than the trouble finding a new manager would involve before the election this November.

I have been told other county managers envy Charlie Horne.  They want to be like him.  Long-lasting.  Able to get budgets approved with little public outcry.  No public embarrassment from county employees.  No negative media reports.  That should be reason enough to keep him around, right?

By the time you read this, the filing deadline passed for citizens interested in being elected to the BOC.  If we don’t know today, we will know very soon who is running for the BOC.

I will look for my candidate(s) to share a belief in being PRO-business (that especially includes small business), a plan to reduce regulatory overreach, reduce spending, and a commitment to find a new county manager.

What do you think about a petition to replace our county manager?  Do you think a petition would help persuade the BOC to look for somebody better?
