I very much thank Tom West and Gene for calling this article about Jim Goodnight in the Huffington Post to our attention. I especially like the quality-of-life issues Mr. Goodnight considers important and uses for the betterment of his employees.

I do have additional questions. Given that we are all aware of the huge gap in incomes between the highest paid CEO’s and the lowest paid workers expressed as a ratio that helps us define the actual intentions of a company’s pay structure would Mr. Goodnight provide me with that figure. I am especially heartened that his companies experience a low turnover rate but this rate can be affected by many things.

This is a wonderful addition to our debate about Chatham Park and the intentions of Preston Development toward the quality-of-life issues that affect all Chathamites. I do disagree with Mr. West that one group “beats” another in the propaganda war over this development, one of the largest in North Carolina.

My attitude is especially encouraged by the words of Tom Glendenning and the inherent values of an open discussion. The members of PittsboroMatters, including myself, want to open the door on all those negotiations that will decide how the future of everyone will track from this day on.
