Subject: How to handle unwanted posts to the Chatlist

I posted a comment a couple of days ago about how I think the Chatlist is being over-run by useless posts authored by pseudonym-bearing entities either for or against Chatham Park Development.

I suggested Gene move this discussion off the Chatlist and perhaps start a Yahoo! Discussion group for them.. But I’ve had another idea… I think Gene posted a note that we were reaching 5000 or so members, and it struck me this evening that that is a powerful number. What I’d like to suggest is that when you see a post that you think is total nonsense, instead of just scrolling past it, take a moment to drop the author a line directly to their email! Perhaps getting  4000 emails to wade through will give the author pause to post the next useless Chatlist post.

And I don’t consider myself exempt from this policy, so if you think this idea is total BS, tell me so directly!

Thanks
Steve

NOTE to Steve et all -Wow! Woah! Let me nip this in the bud NOW; right this moment.

We encourage discussions between opposing Chathamcentric views on the Chatlist and through emails between members.

We do NOT kick people off the Chatham Chatlist because some folks may disagree with their viewpoints.

If ANY member of the Chatlist receives ANY email from ANY other Chatlist member telling them to get off the Chatlist, please email that note directly to me. I will discuss that

NOTE to Steve. Have never done this before, but maybe we should try an experiment……

Here it goes – We remove you from the Chatham Chatlist membership for a few weeks. The after you are welcomed back on the Chatlist we find out how it went for you. Are you up for the experiment?
