HUNGER IS SCARY!
The 25th Chatham Hunger Walk and Halloween Carnival to support the CORA Food
Pantry is almost here! To fit with our theme, “Hunger is Scary,” our walk this year will be held on October 27, the Sunday before Halloween
Form a Team or Walk Solo to Raise Funds for CORA
We will work with you and your group to make the 25th Anniversary Walk our best one ever so that we can provide food for the increasing number of Chatham County citizens facing crisis and hunger.
In the last year CORA served 5,427 struggling Chatham County families with one week’s supply of food (191 tons!!). This past Summer CORA, along with more than 20 partner agencies, conducted the SNACK! Program (Summer Nutritional Assistance for Chatham Kids) providing 10 meals per week for 986 disadvantaged school children. Your financial support of the Hunger Walk ensures that these programs will continue, and that we will be able to meet our county’s expanding need for food assistance.
Here are the details of the 2013 Chatham Hunger Walk:
.. Sunday, October 27, Rain or Shine
.. Carnival games and activities, live music, and food trucks begin
at NOON!! Walkers are encouraged to come in costume and enter the best costume contests!
.. Walk Registration: 1:30 p.m. Walk Starts: 2:30 p.m.
.. Walk begins and ends at Pittsboro Elementary School. Walk a 3-mile or one-mile route through historic Pittsboro. Enjoy carnival activities, live music and refreshments.
* Be a Team Captain
* Enlist your friends, colleagues, church or civic group members to join your team as walkers.
* Walkers raise money by collecting contributions from friends, work colleagues, and school or club members.
* Team Captains collect funds from walkers and bring to the Hunger Walk.
* Team Captains and Walkers enjoy the food, carnival activities and of course — the Walk itself — through picturesque downtown Pittsboro on a beautiful Fall day.
