Subject: Rumors of my demise
Ok ,, I need to clear something up quickly . I am not dead or in the hospital .
I had a number of people email me about what happened to me yesterday from the gossip channel at the hospital .
My water heater quit . I am well trained in water heater repair and replacement . I went into the closet in mamas bedroom , pulled the wall panel , to take a peak a the water heater to decide why we suddenly lost hot water . No leaks , so no chance of water causing a short . I pulled the metal cover to check the top element . I hadn’t even removed the safety cover over the element to expose the wires when I touched the inner tank and the thing lit me up with 220 volts putting me backwards into a small chair doubling my left arm into a ball . After a moment to recompose I was able to get help . I went for a friendly visit to the ER and after a few hours of test’s and some torridol It was determined I would survive ok so home I went .
Mice made a home in the insulation of the water heater . They like to eat the plastic insulation off wires and apparently that was the short that killed the water heater and fried my left arm . My arm will be ok in a few days but the water heater is toast . I’m now in a house with a dead heat pump and water heater but I’m ok 😉
220 volts is just a tingle compared to lightning but I strongly advise anyone to stay away from it !!
