Bonnie Korta, Poetry Reading, June 2, 1:00 – 2:00pm
Bonnie Korta is a native of Pleasant View, Virginia, a rural community outside of Lynchburg but her family’s roots run deep in Granville County, North Carolina.  A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the College of William and Mary, Korta studied creative writing at George Mason University, Radford University, the Hindman Settlement School, and recently received a creative writing certificate from Central Carolina Community College.  She writes poetry, creative non-fiction, and fiction.  In 2013, two of her poems won awards in competitions held by the North Carolina Poetry Council and the North Carolina Poetry Society.  Her work has appeared in Bay Leaves, Pinesong, Imagining Heaven, Alca Lines, and Solstice 2013.   She will read from a forthcoming poetry collection,  It’s Twisted, It’s Twisted, It’s Twisted I Say, “Rabbithearted”, a memoir, and Echoes of Atalanta, a novel.

          Beth Bale is a painter whose fresh and vibrant art features many of her farm and domestic animals, as well as animal and nature scenes from local areas and her imagination.  Scenes from her travels and childhood in Kentucky also appear in her primarily watercolor paintings.  Beth occasionally forays into painting in acrylics and adding inks and other elements into her works on canvas, paper, Aquabord and Yupo.

Pisces Rising in Concert

           Pisces Rising, a Gypsy Folk Duo based out of Raleigh is comprised of two established singer/songwriters and poets Arielle Bryant and Austin Moss.  Their sound is a remarkable blend of strong, rhythmic acoustic folk noise coupled with harmonies that will haunt your head space for days!  Preview their music:  http://piscesrising.bandcamp.com/
