Karen Crowell,

You challenged the idea that our county government needs to prioritize, and that government has limited funds. You claim that government simply can raise taxes and then it can take care of housing, hunger, health, well basically everything.

You may be interested to learn that taking money away from individual taxpayers and businesses means that they have less money to spend on their own housing, on their own food, on their own health, on their own children, on hiring others who would then be able to take care of their own families’ needs.

The best answer to poverty, hunger, housing, and healthcare always is… a Job!  The more you impair the free market and free choice by taxing individuals and businesses the fewer jobs.

Just look at the demarcation line between North Korea and South Korea, both north and south have the same people, the same resources, the same land.  The only difference is the North has embraced the political policies of the left, of Karl Marx, but the South has embraced individual freedom, private ownership of property, and the free market.  The result?  The South has the 15th largest economy in the world.  The North on the other hand has nearly universal poverty, starvation, and an utter lack of individual freedom.

Our fiscally conservative commissioners have set responsible budgets, set priorities and set limits on spending, taking our county from complete stagnation and loosing companies (employers) to rapidly gaining companies, employees, investment and development!  Jobs pay the bills, pay for education, pay for food, pay for medicine, and pay for a home.

I’ll take that over government handouts any day..
