Crosswinds Marina Falling Apart

1. Overall responsiveness of the marina owners is extremely poor. The person at the desk will smile and tell you whatever you want to hear but at the end of the day nothing gets done in the maintenance and service of the docks. This has created a situation where the docks are dangerous and becoming more so every day.

2. Service dock is unusable and has been so for 14 weeks. No contract to repair.

3. A houseboat from the service dock has been placed on the end of B dock leaving no place for temporary docking for renters on B dock.

4. Dock fingers on B dock have been destroyed by a storm and by damage from boat collisions. These have been damaged since last summer and we B dockers have been told there is no plan to repair them any time soon. The broken fingers are a hazard and raise a serious issue for both walking on them and for holding up in a storm.

5. Fingers on the house boat dock are also broken. When asked when they will be repaired the answer is there is no time frame to repair. These fingers cannot be safely walked on and will not resist the winds of further storms.

6. The docks themselves are not being maintained. When the previous owner was in charge there was a man in his 50s in charge of replacing boards year round. It seemed a full time job for him. Put simply the decking is not being maintained and no board have been replaced on any of the rental docks. The one location where a few boards have been replaced was on the gas dock. Those boards are improperly maintained and pose a hazard to women’s shoes because of the spacing.

7. The grass is no longer being mowed on a regular basis and when it is mowed it is not mowed near the rip rap and this is both unsightly and dangerous as there is not clear border between grass on rock. I have witnessed visitors tripping over this edge.

8. Garbage pick up has been sporadic at best and cans remain full weeks at a time. Even when asked it is days before they are emptied.

9. Water service has been late in coming after repeated requests. Ultimately a tenant was forced to turn it on himself because the landlords showed no inclination to do so even though it was on on the gas dock.

10. Mowing in the trailer lot has not been consistent and the lot is not being maintained. It is dangerous and my 4 wheel drive pickup was towed out because it could not navigate the mud holes.

11. Lake hours. When the old landlord was in charge the gate opened at 6am and was opened till 10pm. Further, there was someone on sight during these hours for security. Currently the gate opens at 8 and closes at 8 and the marina has staff whenever someone happens to show up. When someone goes to lunch or has the urge to leave they simply lock the doors.

12. Insurance on the docks. The damage to the houseboat dock should be covered by insurance yet when asked why it was not claimed the staff said they did not want to “raise a red flag” with the insurance company.

13. Gas dock is damaged and there are no plans to repair. Is clearly dangerous and poses a danger of leaks if another storm hits when boats are on the dock.
