Seems like we have a new breed of intolerant people amongst us – the Anonymousphobics.

Anonymousphobics are people who can’t logically discuss or defend their positions based on merit and want to personalize every issue.

Anonymousphobics make me laugh.

As soon as I saw Karen Crowell’s latest post, I had to smile as I thought of the following cartoon –

“So, if you state your opinion it’s free speech. But if I state mine, it’s hate, intolerance and bigotry. Right, I forgot that’s how it works.”

You would think someone in her 60’s would be a little nicer. However, I almost forgot that Karen is the Republican hating liberal that came up with the brilliant idea that every poster to the Chatlist should have to disclose their political affiliation.

You can find some of her memorable little gems of wisdom on the Chatlist here – https://chathamchatlist.com/highlights/?s=Karen+Crowell+

BTW, the truth is the truth, even when you think it is “nasty”.

Honest disagreement is possible.

Let’s stamp out anonymousphobia in our lifetime.

  1. don’t knock anonymity, it’s been used by sane, rational, and “mature” people since the inception of the printed word. As long as there are groups and individuals that foment misinformation and hate as a means for political gains and personal destruction, the anonymity will continue. I have a lot of friends, but frankly very few of them are so perfect that they would not be bothered or put off by my views on, say, religion, for example. I can speak honestly and openly about my beliefs without having to worry about any ramifications on my self or my family. This is partly what they mean when they say it’s a free county. As you are free to say any inteligent, insightful, enlightened, or hatefully idiotic thing, I also am free to mask my identity.
Thankyou that some the the chatlisters won’t be in charge of freedom of speech…ever.

  2. I tried leave a comment to to however my comment never appeared…. It was civil with no cursing, etc. though not of the puritan political/philosophical leaning. I can’t imagine we editing based on content. Is the system malfunctioning? (Hoping the latter.)

  3. I apologize. Apparently the comments are moderated (probably a good idea!) and mine was just waiting in the queue. My curiosity and impatience got the best of me.

    best regards,
