Gene, thank you for such a well reasoned response about anonymity. If someone needs the shield of anonymity in order to express or provoke discussion, then thank you for allowing that expression.
It is healthy for our society to tolerate and acknowledge diverse points of view. We learn by entertaining diverse thought. Yes, it can be exasperating. It’s not always comfortable to hear or read the thoughts of someone with a different point of view, but it can broaden our understanding and acceptance. We are often prejudiced when we think we know who is writing the post. Anonymity confuses prejudice. Anonymity can force us to be open to what is being expressed.
