Karen Crowell had some good questions concerning this site and what the city and county govs role is in this deal. I’d also like to know where the site is?
Siler already has two industrial sites that are sitting there empty and presumably crumbling, one that left owing the city lots of money and leaving many people unemployed, plus a large empty car dealership, all in the same area. And many empty old warehouses and other industrial sites in the downtown area.
I at least hope this “deal” involves some of those sites.. If it’s not, what are we doing? Creating another industrial site that will probably take county/city incentives, build and possibly hire, only to leave in a few years, running with the money. Another abandoned industrial site. Siler City has enough of those.
Please do not develop more, use the old sites. We need jobs, make sure the “deal” includes adequate jobs for local people, not imported. Otherwise don’t do it!!!
