Subject: Neighborhood Eagle
I live between Siler City and Pittsboro- my property borders Highway 64- on the south side. Directly across the hyway from me is a stretch of woods- running from Landfill Road to Alston Road. About five years ago, I glanced out my window toward that property and saw what at first appeared to be a child wearing some kind of costume, standing by the road. The more I looked- and my eyesight is not perfect, it looked like a large bird- As the cars passed, I could see the figure thru the car windows and get a pretty good size comparison.
I went outside and made my way toward the highway, and it then appeared to be an eagle sitting on the metal guard railing- A big truck passed and the figure was no longer there- but it had not been hit, I could see that. I told several folks about maybe seeing an eagle in this area, but all said “can’t be” – at Jordan lake maybe, but not here.
Well, today as I returned from Pittsboro, driving west, maybe 400 feet from Alston Road, there was a visual “commotion” on the hill right-a-way- When my eyes were able to focus, there in front of me, maybe 20 feet in the air- with a very obvious white head and huge wings, was an eagle- It was spectacular – and was visible long enough for me be be sure of what I was seeing-
Has anyone else seen it?
