Subject: SunTrust Bank
After reading several recent posts about local banks, I just wanted to point out that SunTrust is closing the West Street branch in Feb 2013.
As a caregiver for my 97-year-old father, I am upset that SunTrust is closing the branch that offers off-street parking, a convenient handicapped entrance, and drive-through service, not to mention terrific employees that have given us excellent service over the years. It’s going to be nearly impossible for us to do our banking, with my father in a wheelchair, at the downtown branch with limited handicapped parking on the street and no drive-through window. I’m sure there are other customers with age or health issues that are going to be affected by this closing.
Two letters from SunTrust have suggested that we use the downtown branch or ATM machines, but neither option is ideal for someone confined to a wheelchair. We were hoping SunTrust would reconsider closing this branch, but we have received a letter saying that the decision is final.
We will be moving our account to a bank that serves all customers regardless of age or disability.
