I know how you feel. I had a similar experience but eventually found it in my car where it had fallen out of my pocket.
On another point, I don’t understand why anyone would have a debit card. It immediately comes out of your checking account and can cause a hold on substantially more at a hotel. It doesn’t have the protection that a credit card has (a lost or stolen can cost you at most $50 and probably nothing).
Many credit cards give you a rebate. I think that debit cards are dumb
