Subject: The Town of Pittsboro commends WWTP operator Greg Decker for
attaining his Grade IV Biological Wastewater Certification

The Town of Pittsboro is proud of the continuing education of its staff.Recently, Mr. Greg Decker attained his Grade IV Biological Wastewater Certification, which is the top certification level available in the state of North Carolina and quite an accomplishment in his profession.

Randy Heard, Wastewater Plant Superintendent and Greg’s supervisor, opined “Greg has been a tremendous asset to the Town of Pittsboro’s Wastewater Treatment Facility. His technical expertise and work ethic are responsible for our excellent compliance record and continued production of reclaimed quality water.”

According to Heard, the exam traditionally has a pass rate of less than 50%.

The work of Mr. Heard and his staff has been significant. In 2010 The N.C. Department of Environment and Natural Resources commended the Town of Pittsboro for the innovative project that culminated with the use of reclaimed water for Industrial Processes at 3M. Mr. Heard and his staff played a key role in the project and subsequently upgraded the plant’s output to reuse quality water.
