It is always open season on coyotes

It is always open season on coyotes, so shooting them is the most specific way of managing the pack. But they are so shy usually that it is hard to get a shot at them. Hope you have a proper rifle as it would be rare indeed to get close enough to use a shotgun.

Be wary of the background if shooting with a rifle as the bullet may easily carry a mile from a plain .22. If you can find their usual travel path, you might leave them some snacks and “gin” and then impute their fall to sin.

This risks that other critters might become inebriated also. It is illegal to poison them.

  1. COMMITTEE TO BAN THE KILLING OF WILDLIFE: I regret the loss some people have encountered with coyotes. However, it is obvious killing is not a solution to the problem, but a problem to the solution. We need to find alternatives to killing. This strategy teaches our children to solve problems with a gun and not their heads. Violence begets violence. I vote for finding peaceful ways to co-exist with the wildlife that share our planet. Surely, together we can figure out the best HUMANE solutions. I am glad to form a committee to research more viable humane alternatives. Please join me and together we will figure it out…none of us is smart as all of us. Here is a link to an article for more suggestions:
