Subject: In defense of the Chatham County EDC
As a small business owner, I went to the EDC about my concept for a Small Business Incubator. They met with me immediately and gave me several tools to work with. They recommended that I meet with Gary Kibler at the Business School at CCCC who met with me the next day after that and we put a plan into action.
The EDC has provided me with OUTSTANDING market research for use in the business plan our Board of Directors is working on.
The Staff at the EDC Dianne Reid and Mari Howe both have attended meetings with all of the persons involved in the development of the Incubator. Ms. Reid also connected me with a National Incubator Assoc who has provided me with great advice and some great tools and templates for use in this project.
I am thrilled to know that I can call the EDC with a request (ie: Market Research) and have it in my Inbox by noon – no time to waste to get outstanding projects going.
The collaboration in terms of advice, ideas, people to speak with, organizations to reach out to – is invaluable and will now greatly benefit the community as we will all see this incubator become a reality in the next couple of months.
I am thankful for them and feel confident that they will be an advocate throughout this process.
