Subject: Fire out of fire ants
The way I took the “fire out of fire ants” here was turn my rooster loose on them. Yeah! He thinks it’s Mexican food man! Never seen anything like it. That big Americana boy jumps in the middle of them and eats’em like crazy, leveling the ant mounds. He coos and calls the hens to come join him too. And no he is not for loan to work on the border stopping illegal aliens. We need him here.
My neighbor was onto some big chemical cocktail to kill his. His property looked like it had been invaded with so many ant mounds on it. I told him to protect his water underground, get some yard chickens instead. He said, “Your kidding?” Nope. He did and now happily has no ants on his 40 acres, sept maybe some of ‘dem little black suga ants’.
Is that organic or what? I love it that goats eat poison ivy and chickens will kill your ants!! Wish the extension office would remind us of our options to go green!!
I wonder what the eggs taste like? No more hot sauce
I like this solution for contolling fire ants. How do you keep chickens/rosters alive though? I’ve seen plenty of foxes and coyotes roaming around our area.
