I misspoke about it being the first time Chatham commissioner denied a board appointment

Below are my comments to the BOC last week. Seems as if I may have mis-spoke about it being the first time that the BOC has denied an appointment to a board, but that is not the point. Unless the person is unsavory, they should be allowed to sit and represent that Commissioner’s views….Bock doesn’t get it. He thinks because it has happened before, then that makes it right. He is showing some real maturity there with that thinking.

Our county is being uprooted by Bock. He has not ties to it, no history, no reason why it should be of any value to him except for short term gain…..

Good Evening,
I am very disappointed with the lack of civility, common courtesy, or just plain manners the majority of this board bestows on the minority members of the board. Never in the 25 years that I have been attending BOC meetings has the Board NOT approved another commissioner’s appointee to a board. Never. This goes beyond politics. It is belittling and unsettling. This has nothing to do with the appointee. It has all to do with mutual respect…. you three are not the only ones who won an election, all five of you did. I am embarrassed for you. I hope you reconsider your actions and allow Mike to have his voice heard on the Planning Board.

Thanks for the opportunity to address you.
