Subject: Snapping turtle in my pond
I am the unhappy owner of a farm pond wherein resides a snapping turtle who has killed and eaten some of my ducks and fish.
I’ve seen him holding a duck underwater to drown it, so please don’t tell me he didn’t kill the duck. When I tried to get the duck away from him, he hissed at me. This am he had a big fish minus its head. I assume it was one of the catfish I stocked years ago. I don’t think the brim, bluegills or sunfish would ever get that big, even after 15 years….and as muddy as the pond has gotten, the bass are probably long gone.
I’m told there are traps to catch snappers or one can set a heavy duty hook and line. He’s about the size of a dinner plate, as near as I can tell.
Anybody game for catching him ?
