We don’t need no new school in downtown Pittsboro

I spend a lot of time in downtown Pittsboro and am surprised that there is enough parking space to accommodate cars plus a school.  It’s difficult to think there would be no traffic problem – the street is narrow enough to accommodate existing traffic. Is there room for a playground for the students to get out and exercise?

The building was vacated by the PTA Thrift and is an *eyesore.*

The co-owner of The City Tap is correct in that turning the building into a school would be one more property that does not pay taxes. Pittsboro as well as the County need more tax-paying businesses.

I am against turning this property/building into a school of any kind.

  1. Regardless of whether they pay taxes or not, why should we not want to encourage a new local business? Whoever owns the building will benefit; whoever owns the school will benefit; the children will benefit. Maybe some few extra families will go to the soda shop, the gas station, or other local shops when they are in the area.

I’d much rather see the eyesore taken filled by a non tax-payer than sit there unused. Who else is ready to take their place?
