It is true. Lack of industry regulation in US requiring efficient vehicles has been and still is shameful.
I run a 90 Toyota Camry (4 door sedan) that always has gotten 33+ mpg, and still does.
After 21 years US is only beginning to get to that level.
The current and constant push for less and less regulation is pathetic and unconscionable.
