Subject: Downtown Pittsboro needs every warm body it can find
I am amazed that anyone could possibly see a small school in Pittsboro as a negative for business. The PTA building has been vacant for how long? 5 years? There are open storefronts all over Pittsboro. The Ford building on Hillsboro street has not been fully rented in 5 years. The Station next to the Kerr Drugs lays nearly empty?
Unless there is a law that would force another business to close if the school opens this project should be approved. Downtown Pittsboro needs every warm body it can find. I assume the school will have students and parents. They will buy gas, clothes food and my guess is beer.
In addition parking is a nightmare in Pittsboro and they are offering parking.
Pittsboro commercial vacancies are up and people are complaining that someone wants to bring people to town.
Go Figure.
Look at New York City. Where are the schools? All over. That may be what caused people to learn to walk. Plus, cars don’t have to be in the classrooms. People can walk five blocks to a car. A mix of buildings may be what causes people there to walk.
