Machine Quilting #2, Thursday, 09.01.2011-10.20.2011. Time: 6:30-9:00PM: This class is for both beginners and more advanced quilters. Students will learn basic piecing skills to more advanced piecing using templates and paper piecing. Instructor: Bea Lee. Cost: $95.; Location: Pittsboro.
Poetic Techniques and Workshop, Tuesday, 09.06.2011-10.25.2011. Time:
7:00-9:00PM:. Like any art, poetry requires using the tools of the
trade, and knowing the techniques they require. This class will give
students practice in applying techniques their own writing; provide
practice in giving and receiving constructive feedback. Instructor,
Ralph Earle is a long-time Chatham County resident whose poems
have appeared in Carolina Quarterly, The Sun, and many other
publications.  He has taught poetry workshops at UNC-CH, CCCC (Sanford
campus) and the ArtsCenter of Carrboro. Cost: $135; Location:

Dancing – from Basic Shag-WC Swing, Friday, 09.09.2011-10.07.2011.
Time: 7-8; 8-9; 9-10: Steve Nystrom has returned to help get you feet

MIG welding for Art & Hobby (Beginners & Refresher), Monday,
09.12.2011-11.14.2011. Time: 6:00-9:00PM:  Students will learn basics of
MIG set up, welding and plasma cutting, as well as shop safety, use of
pwer tools and equipment. Prepares students for art sculpture and hobby
welding. Metal fee $30.00. Instructor: Kevin Kuhnel. Cost: 136.25;

Handweaving, Tuesday, 09.13.2011-11.01.2011. Time: 6:30-8:30PM: This
course is designed to develop beginning hand weavers to the point of
working independently. Advanced level weavers are welcome to pursue
individual interests in the class as well. Instructor: Jean Vollrath.
Cost: $75.; Location: Siler City, Arts Incubator

Metal Art, Sculpture and Function,  Wednesday, 09.14.2011-11.16.2011.
Time: 6-10PM. Instructor, Kevin Kuhnel will teach students the correct
method of creating a piece of artistic metal work that is ready to show
in a gallery. Students will decide what their class project will be;
they will focus on how to design the lay-out, make correct measurements,
cut metal and put piece together. Must have welding experience. Metal

Beginning-Intermediate Woodturning, Saturday, 09.17.2011-09.24.2011.
Time 10:00AM-2:00PM.. Students will gain proficiency in beginning to
intermediate level woodturning skills w/the late using hands-on learning
approach. This workshop will be in the new very well-equipped wood
studio of CCCC’s newest campus. Please bring safety glasses. $30. Wood

.. American Sign Language I, Wednesday, 09.26.2011-11.16.2011. Time:
6:00-8:00PM. We have had several requests to offer this class and are
excited that instructor Rhonda Jones, is willing to share her expertise.
 This course is designed to help students build American Sign Language
vocabulary, learn how to form signs and use them in everyday
conversation as well as understanding how facial expressions, body,
head, and eye movement are used to convey messages. Cost: $65. Location:
Pittsboro.

 Fearless Fiction Craft – Works in Progress, Wednesday,
09.26.2011-11.02.2011. Time: 6:00-8:30PM. This class can help fiction
writers transform their work through revision and rewriting.
Participants will bring up to 12 pages of prose for in-class critique
and revision. Participants learn the techniques of crafting and shaping
fiction and apply them to their own work. Students have the outcome of
more polished and powerful prose, plus an understanding of how to
approach revision and critique. Instructor: Marjorie Hudson, Cost: $138.
Location: Pittsboro.

Basic Dog Obedience, Friday, 09.30.2011-11.18.2011. Time(s):
3:00-4:30PM or 4:30-6:00PM. The aim of this course is to teach students
to train their dogs using positive, motivational, relationship-based
methods, to be well behaved respectful pets. All exercises will be done
on a lead and include various attention exercises, walking on a loose
leash (“heel†), coming when called (the “recall†) the sit/stay,
down/stay, and stand/stay. Instructor: Pat Sullivan, Cost: $61.25.
Location: Pittsboro (No dogs first class).
