It is a priority that owners spay and neuter their dogs and cats

Thank you Melissa for the post regarding an abandoned animal. Who on this earth would perform such a “criminal” act? Such a person is evil and the Lord will deal with him / her sooner or later. At least indirectly this is a reason to prioritize the necessity to SPAY & NEUTER pets. If one has an “unintended” litter and cannot handle the additional responsibility they have two choices: Give them away – hopefully to responsible families – OR take them to a shelter, and in this county that means extermination by GAS. So much easier to prevent this eventuality in the first place.

Call your governmental representatives and encourage them to abolish the practice of lethal extermination and replace said practice with lethal injection.. Tell them your vote depends on their actions when a Bill such as “Danny’s Law” is in Committee or up for a vote in any stage of the legislative process. Making the call is easy and so important. The change in how the county practices “euthanasia” in affordable. As an incentive, all one need do is venture out to the Control Shelter off of Hgwy 64 and (immediately) be smitten by dozens of beautiful, innocent felines displayed for adoption. Wonderful, adoptable dogs are caged in the back. Whether you decide to adopt or not you will walk out of that place holding back tears (if you can).

Over seven years ago I was given three cats that were on their way to a horrible death at said animal shelter. I did not want them, the timing was horrible, but I have never regretted adopting such unconditional love into my home. I have adopted pets since an early age and they always become family from the moment I say yes. Say YES to ADOPTION – but not from a breeder. Breeders are in the business of making money, not saving lives. I know some intelligent people who insist on getting their pets from a breeder: WHY !? Are they afraid that adoption means inferiority and /or disease? Do they want their conspicuous consumption to display their “perfection” or should they instead seek and provide perfect love by adopting that paw that is reaching out to them? Chose the latter; you will never regret it.
