Eye on Achievement
The Board received a report from a recent Career and Technical Education (CTE) program review. The report was positive about the strengths of the overall district program and also contained suggestions/recommendations for the next phases of continued program success.
Items for Discussion
A. Transportation Handbook – approved
B. AdvancED district accreditation – Presentation only (Dr. McCoy’s PowerPoint will be posted under the online meeting agenda.)
C. Proposed PreK tuition increases – Approved (The increase in PreK private pay tuition was needed because of funding changes in More at Four, now called NC PreK Program.)
D. Six months of Board of Education agendas – Informational item (Framework agendas for all meetings in a six-month span were created.)
E. Revision of policies due to new student discipline legislation – Approved and second reading waived in order for the district student handbook to be able to be updated, printed, and given to students at the start of the school year. (Superintendent Logan explained that these policy changes are presented in order for the district to comply with recent state legislation.)
F. Student/Parent handbook code of student conduct – informational (The district student code of conduct will now be updated to reflect the policy changes in agenda item “E†and brought to the board at the August 15th meeting for approval.)
G. 2012-2013 standing budget committee – discussion item (A ten-member committee with a variety of people from the school district and community swill be formed.)
H. Policy 6125 Administering Medicines to Students – (This item was moved from the consent agenda to this part of the agenda.)
Old Business
2011-2012 budget committee – Discussion item (Wendy Morris, the city exec (a.k.a. branch manager) with the Pittsboro State Employees Credit Union has agreed to be the fourth member of the committee. Mr. O’Brien, Mr. Hamm, and Ms. Little, Chief Finance Officer, will comprise the committee.)
