For Bonnie, Vultures are sometimes encouraged to leave an area by hanging black plastic trash bags from tree limbs or porch railings in the area of congregation.

The theory is of course that they might perceive this as dead vultures. I should think that if the bags had just a little stuffing in them such as crumpled newspaper this might work better. It seems a contradiction since these birds are drawn to death and have been seen eating their own but I have heard that it sometimes works.

Other than that you might try placing wires temporarily above railings to deter perching until they relocate. On the flip side…. they are very interesting to watch and close-up viewing is not always easy to find.

Good luck, Aaron Honeycutt
