Subject: lumping liberals in Chatham county with China
“the pollution of China (a socialist/communist darling of the lefties)” –How is this Chatham centric? The Snowcamper in the last chatlist is taking a general swipe at Democrats, education, and liberals with lots of logical fallacies in the mix.
I don’t think of China as a liberal society, which I assume “left leaning” or “lefties” would include. It is an authoritarian regime run by old men who want to hold on to power.
As far as education goes, Snowcamper is out to lunch. Small children in small groups or with a teacher who can work with them individually are better able to concentrate and get the attention they need for learning to read or write.
By the third grade, reading habits are becoming ingrained, and it is much harder to help an older child learn to read if he or she is already embarrassed or behind in reading. One teacher in a class of 25 or 30 youngsters cannot give as much one on one or small group time as she/he can in smaller classes.
By the time students get to college, they should have these reading skills and critical thinking skills firmly engrained so they can work independently. We need an educated society to have a functioning democracy. I bet Snowcamper likes taxes going for roads that go to private businesses as well as other places in the county, so why mind a few dollars going for a bookmobile?
Sounds like Snowcamper might do well to hop on the bookmobile and read a few books on critical thinking skills.
