Storytelling for Grown Ups will take place on Wednesday, June 22 from 7 pm to 9 pm at the General Store Café.  The night will feature a variety of storytelling styles and stories from some of the area¹s finest storytellers for only $5.00!

Event organizer, Garry Lipson is a retired high school construction teacher and cross country track coach.  His hilarious personal experience stories will have you on the edge of your seat.

Joining Lipson is Bob Langford who has been a longtime storytelling fixture in the Triangle first in print at the News & Observer, then on TV at WRAL, then for people who couldnŒt read or afford televisions, on WPTF radio.

Melissa Delbridge has won awards from the Southern Humanities Review, the Southern Women Writers Conference, and the Great Lakes Colleges Association for her nonfiction and fiction. In her essay collection, Family Bible (University of Iowa Press, 2008),  she explores themes of race, gender, and sexuality as they impacted her life growing up in the Deep South 1960s and 1970s.  The winner of the Monti’s first Hippo Award for Comedy, she is a newcomer to Pittsboro and teaches creative writing at CCCC.

Rounding out the line-up is Claire Ramsey who discovered storytelling by drawing pictures when she was still too young to write.  Ramsey¹s storytelling upgraded from hobby to a business, Stories with Claire, after she took a university storytelling class.  The ³premier storyteller² of Wake Forest and the ex officio of the North Carolina Storytelling Guild, Ramsey believes storytelling helps people value education and learn from one another.

Although this program is not intended for small children, young people ages 10 and up will definitely enjoy this event.
