Bill Oldham III’s idea about using DNA is certainly reasonable, especially with the falling cost of doing the test. We use DNA to verify semen andembryos as coming from a particular bull or flush. (The DNA of any bull we want to sell semen from is on file at the American International Charolais Association and any buyer can test to be sure he
got the “right stuff”!) It did still cost US $50 when we tested BIG FELLA about 2 years ago. Will copy this to Marilou Wegner and ask what the current fee is and check on my recollection.
Maybe other chatlisters know a local source for DNA testing that is more readily available and less expensive.
