Peter Rogan with Jewelsong – Rumi & the Sufi Poets by Candlelight – this Thursday at the Joyful Jewel.
Jalaluddin RUMI, 13th century mystical Sufi, saint, and literary Genius, is America’s best selling poet and one of the most widely read poets in the world. Well-known Rumi interpreter Peter Rogen will introduce Rumi’s poetry and read dramatically from his work with some musical accompaniment.
Rumi speaks about divine love, the relation between lover and beloved, and how to live a more spiritual life in a world that does not always encourage the spiritual quest. His poetry is rich with memorable images, wit, humor and beauty – always compassionate and intimate as though he were sitting next to us.
Peter has presented Rumi’s poetry in many cities from Boston to Miami including performances at the Washington National Cathedral, the Yale Institute of Sacred Music, Duke University, and the University of South Carolina.
Accompanying Peter Rogan, and presenting some of their own Sufi-inspired music for this evening will be our wonderful & amazing local singing group, JEWELSONG.
