Subject: Bennett Landfill Meeting

Dear Chatham,

The Friends of SW Chatham ( Bennett Landfill Opposition) would like to firstly thank Walter Petty for coming by after his first Town Hall meeting to hear our voices opposing the private landfills in Bennett. Mr. Petty was supportive and encouraging in his speech and we look forward to further meetings with him.

Roughly 80 to 90 people attended the meeting last night and much information was presented about the dangers and concerns about this project. We feel certain our efforts are working. Mr Hunter from Chatham News wrote an article in the last paper about our concerns and it was appreciated. We had people as far as Bonlee, Silk Hope, Siler City, and Pittsboro there last night.

We are moving forward with putting up signs, petitions, word of mouth, and mailings as many citizens stated they did not know about this. If anyone concerned wants a plan map on this project please send me a PM here with your email and I will send it to you.

Also you may visit stopthelandfill.org and there is information as the Silk Hope group that stopped the county landfill graciously passed us their website. If you can donate any funds there is a donate button that uses PayPal and we are raising funds to purchase signs, send mailings, and purchase a full page ad in the Chatham papers. We still need to get the word out.

Again thank you and look for the next meeting announcement.

Mary
