The Chatham County Board of Education met on Monday, February 21, 2011 at Chatham Central High School.

The consent agenda was approved and no one signed up to make public comment.

A. K-8 reconfiguration – The Board unanimously voted against K-8 school reconfiguration.

B. Redistricting – The Board voted for district administration to have some discussion/meetings with potentially affected families before considering this issue further.

C. 2011-2012 Budget (item added at the beginning of the meeting) – discussion only

D. 2011-2012 Budget Calendar – The county has given the school district an extension of two weeks (until mid-April instead of April 1) to submit the school district’s 2011-2012 budget proposal. The Board approved adjusting the budget calendar to reflect the extension.

E. 2011-2012 Capital Outlay Budget – informational presentation to be voted on in April

F. 2011-2012 Child Nutrition Budget – informational presentation to be voted on in April

G. Procurement Plan for Child Nutrition – approved

H. Financial Statements for December 31, 2010 – informational item

I. 2010-2011 Budget Amendments – approved

J. 20110-2011 Calendar Revisions – approved

K. 2011-2012 School Calendar Adoption – approved (Note: There is the potential that this calendar could change if the state calendar law, which currently requires the first student day of a school year be no earlier than August 25th, is overturned. In another situation, if the district pursues an alternate schedule (like Wilkes County), a different

 calendar might have to be adopted.)

L. Policy #4400 Attendance Policy – revision approved

M. Policy #2130 Board Member Compensation & Expenses – amended version approved (wording “staff development” needed to be changed to “board development”)
