Subject: Whoop it up at the 2nd Funky Fashion Show & Burrito Bash!
Local leaders are storming the catwalk in fashions made from recycled materials for the 2nd annual Raising the Roof: Funky Fashion Show & Burrito Bash, a benefit for Chatham Habitat for Humanity and Family Violence & Rape Crisis Services. The event will be held from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1 at the General Store Cafe in Pittsboro.
The “celebrity” models include Pittsboro Mayor Randy Voller; County Commissioners Brian Bock (R), Mike Cross (D), and Walter Petty (R); Chatham County Sheriff Richard Webster; last year’s winner Betty Wilson and daughter Jane Allen Wilson; Home Store Manager Mike Breedlove with internationally renowned artist Louis St. Lewis; dancer & designer Melody Eggen; Police Lt. Lesia McCollough; Chatham Habitat Board President Dick Forbis; George Greger-Holt of Chatham County Schools; and others. Pam Smith, owner of Beggars & Choosers, will serve as the Mistress of Ceremonies. Come out and vote for your favorite fashions by placing bills in paint buckets which will be moving through the crowd. The model who generates the most donations wins a prize!
In addition to the fashion show, the evening includes burritos & a side dish prepared by the General Store Café, an appearance by the fabulous W.I.N.G.S. women, and live music by the esteemed Tommy Edwards of Bluegrass
Experience, with Stan Brown and LaNelle Davis.
Attendees will also get the final opportunity to bid on 12 themed gift baskets, which are currently up for auction at the Chatham Habitat Home Store, located at 467 West St., and at Second Bloom, located in downtown Pittsboro. Baskets include: Anything on Wheels (with a vintage 1930’s bicycle), Take Me Out to the Game (with a New York Yankees jersey currently priced at nearly $200 on-line), Dog is my Co-Pilot, It’s my Party, and more. Check them out and place your bids!
Tickets are $12 in advance at The Home Store and at Second Bloom and $15 at the door.
A big huge thank you to the General Store Cafe for your on-going support of our local non-profits! You serve up a lot more than great food & drinks – you truly make a difference in our community. The café is located at 39 West Street in Pittsboro. Map
