Subject: clarity for Linda Cooper (and any others) from Jimmy Pharr

Due to a slanderous, and hateful personal attack on me by Linda Cooper, I regretfully find myself defending my character, rather than simply a position I took on an issue.

Linda Cooper falls victim to that all to common temptation of not letting FACTS get in the way of their opinions.

Please allow me to clarify my position on dog ownership and of myself:

1. I am NOT a “preacher”; never have been.
(I have seminary Masters of Divinity, and of Christian Education. I teach Old and New Testament at CCCC.)

2. The Chatham County Leash Law (to keep pets on your property) is a FACT.

3. Simple logic and common sense follows that those who ignore this are in violation of the law.
I did not write the law; I only want people to obey it.  The law’s intent is to respect and honor the ownership rights of their neighbors.

4. It should have been obvious to most reasonable people, that my comments about pet (dog) owners was directed ONLY to those who INTENTIONALLY let their dogs run loose on a continued and regular basis.   (As owners of several properties, Ida and I have had to deal with issue more times than we would have wanted.)

Those dog owners who lovingly and responsibly care for the safety of their dogs by attempting to keep them on their property, and are respecting their neighbors property rights, have nothing but gratitude and admiration from me.

In closing, to anyone who honestly saw my post saying anything different, I do sincerely apologize to you and hope this clears it up.

To those like Linda, I simply have no control on how they form opinions, or of their preception of the world around them.
