Subject: My little Scoop and Talking Bread Machine
When I moved to Chatham County, I brought my bread machine. I have taken a class in writing. The instructor said it is important to keep one’s thoughts in a paragraph. And to pack as much information into a paragraph as possible. And indent. I was only able to attend one class but feel I gotten the gist of it. Remember “The Little Train that Could”? How it made a repetitious noise that sounded like it was talking? “I think I can, I think I can”-
Well, when I arrived in Chatham county way back then, I noticed my bread machine was saying something different. Back home in Scotland County, it used to say “Have a nice day, Have a nice day”
After arriving in Chatham, it said “What’s it gonna do? What’s it gonna do?” My Mother used to wear a blouse with big blue polka dots. It sure was ugly. She washed it every Thursday. Well, with the increase of new people moving to Chatham County, my bread machine started saying something different again. It said, “Only Blose green” Only Blose Green”- I did not understand, but it seemed harmless.
One day I was looking thru a magagine, it was 40 years ago. I saw a nice ad for coffee. I wrote to the coffee company and told them how much I liked the coffee. They sent me a little plastic scoop, to measure coffee. I sure did like it. I have used it all these years. Three months ago, it got a little piece broken off the side. It is very difficult to measure with, but I won’t give up using it. I told my Mother she should wear something with stripes for a change.
The other day, my bread machine started saying “Hand n’ scalding Watter, Hand n’ scalding Watter- After all these years of the machine talking, I figured it knew something, so I put my hand in scalding water. It is so painful, but I know the machine was right. It was scalding water.
